The Matej Mohorič Foundation was established in 2021 with the aim of organising non-profit projects that are or will be run under the auspices of cycling ace Matej Mohorič.
In addition to the annual purchase of professional road bikes, we will regularly welcome at least six children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds within the Foundation and the cycling camp in cooperation with partners and the Ljubljana Moste-Polje Youth Friends Association. Together with our partners, we try to help as many groups and individuals in difficult life circumstances as possible in a variety of ways.
Since I became a professional cyclist, I have been thinking about how I could help and invest back into the local environment and give others the opportunity to become successful cyclists. For a few years I have toyed with the idea of setting up a foundation to give young people the opportunity to get involved in cycling. Maybe one day another Slovenian will break through to the top of the World Series.”
My contribution - and this includes financial support - is aimed at helping promising Slovenian boys and girls to have the same conditions and opportunities as youngsters all over Europe. Young people deserve the best and if I can give them a better starting point than I had at their age, that is the best I can give back to cycling.
